About an hour’s drive away, Turin is definitely worth a visit-the first Capital of Italy to celebrate 150 years since the Unification of Italy in 2011 and was the site of the Winter Olympic Games in 2006.

If you are visiting Turin for the first time, it is a must to walk through its ancient part. You can start from Palazzo Madama, the Teatro Regio, the Royal Palace (royal palace of the Savoy family until 1865), theRoyal Armory.

Not far away, along the Po, is the Valentino Castle, with its refined French-style geometries, surrounded by the park of the same name.

For the best views of the city and surrounding mountains, nothing beats a thrilling ascent to the top of the Mole Antonelliana, aboard the panoramic elevator with transparent walls also home to the Cinema Museum.

This elegant building is somewhat of a symbol of the city. With its height of 167.5 meters, it is the second tallest building in Italy.

On the cultural side, you cannot miss a visit to the Egyptian Museum as well as the MAO museum of oriental art, opened in 2009 in Palazzo Mazzonis.

Just a few kilometers away is Venaria Reale, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is at the center of the circuit of the Royal Residences of Piedmont.
